ThriveMore Than Credit. A Brighter You.

Terms & Conditions

Version 1.1 · Last updated 16 September 2026
← Back to Thrive

These terms apply when you use the Thrive Check website of THRIVE SA (PTY) LTD, trading as Thrive SA, and — in addition, in section 15 — when you use the Thrive SA members app. Please read them before you use the service. If you do not agree with them, do not use it.

1. What we provide

1.1 The Thrive Check (free)

A short questionnaire that produces a Thrive Readiness Score out of 100, plus a plain-English summary of what you told us. It is calculated only from the answers you give.

The Thrive Readiness Score is not a credit score. It does not come from a credit bureau, no lender uses it, and it does not indicate whether any application will be approved. It is our own view of what you have told us about yourself.

1.2 What happens after your Thrive Check

At the end of the questions we ask for your name, cell number and email address. We then show you your Thrive Readiness Score and a plain-English summary of what your answers point to, and we email it to you. That is where this website ends. A Thrive consultant may then phone you about the enquiry you started.

If an authorised Thrive representative later offers you a paid service — for example a written analysis of your actual credit bureau record, or Thrive Membership — that is arranged separately with you. Where you enter into a paid service or membership with Thrive, the applicable fees and payment terms will be disclosed and agreed with you during the onboarding process and recorded in the applicable agreement or debit-order mandate. It is not sold on this website, no price for it is quoted here, and nothing on this website commits you to it.

2. What this service is not

3. What we do not promise

We will tell you what your record shows and what we suggest you do about it. We cannot promise:

Where information on your record is inaccurate, outdated or may have prescribed, we can explain the process for disputing it and what the bureau is then obliged to do. The decision remains the bureau's and, where applicable, the credit provider's or a court's.

Be careful of anyone who charges a fee and guarantees to remove correct information from your credit record. You are entitled to a free credit report from each registered credit bureau once a year.

4. Your responsibilities

5. Consent to retrieve your credit information

We do not retrieve your credit record from this website, and we do not ask for your ID number here. Where a bureau retrieval does happen — on a separate service you have agreed to — we retrieve your record only after you have given consent on the bureau consent screen and provided your ID number. That is a soft enquiry for your own information: it is not a credit application and it does not by itself affect your score. You may withdraw consent for future retrievals at any time by emailing privacy@thrivesa.co.za; withdrawal does not undo a retrieval that has already been performed or a report already delivered.

6. Price and payment

7. If we cannot produce an analysis you have paid for

Occasionally a credit bureau holds no usable record for an ID number — for example where someone has never held credit. Where you have paid for an analysis and that happens, there is no analysis for us to write and we will refund you in full. Email support@thrivesa.co.za if you have paid and have not received your analysis.

8. Your right to cancel

Nothing on this website is bought, so there is nothing here to cancel. Where you have paid for a Thrive Analysis, it is a digital product prepared specifically for you and delivered within minutes. Once your report has been generated and delivered it cannot be "returned". If you change your mind before it has been generated, contact us and we will cancel and refund it. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008.

9. Messages from us

We will send you service messages about something you asked for or bought — your score, your receipt, your analysis. A consultant may contact you about the enquiry you started. Marketing messages are sent only if you ticked the optional marketing box, and you can stop them at any time by replying STOP, using the unsubscribe link, or emailing privacy@thrivesa.co.za.

10. Availability

We aim to keep the service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We depend on third parties — hosting, our messaging providers and, where an analysis has been arranged, the credit bureau — and their outages can interrupt the service.

11. Liability

We provide the service with reasonable skill and care. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost profits or opportunities, or for any decision a lender, bureau, court or other third party makes about you. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

12. Intellectual property

The Thrive name, the Thrive Check, the Thrive Readiness Score, our report structure and site content belong to THRIVE SA (PTY) LTD. Your report is yours to use for your own purposes.

13. Suspension

We may suspend or decline service where we reasonably believe it is being used unlawfully, to submit another person's ID number, or to abuse the service.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, including the National Credit Act 34 of 2005, the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 and POPIA. The South African courts have jurisdiction.

15. The Thrive SA members app

This section applies in addition to sections 1 to 14 when you use the Thrive SA members app, whether through the Android app or at members.thrivesa.co.za. Where this section and an earlier section differ, this section applies to your use of the app.

15.1 Who it is for, and how you get an account

The members app is a sign-in-only service for people who have taken up Thrive Membership. It is for people aged 18 and over. You cannot create an account in the app. Your account is created by a Thrive consultant when your membership starts, and you sign in with the details you are given.

15.2 Your account and keeping it secure

Your sign-in details are personal to you. Do not share them, and do not let anyone else use your account. Tell us at support@thrivesa.co.za as soon as you think someone else has them, and change your password in the app. You are responsible for what is done through your account while your details are in your control.

15.3 Consent to retrieve your credit information

The credit features of the app depend on the separate, explicit consent asked for on its own screen. That consent is not bundled into these terms and it is never assumed.

You may withdraw consent for future bureau retrievals at any time by writing to privacy@thrivesa.co.za. Withdrawal stops future retrievals based on that consent. Information already retrieved is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy and Data Deletion page.

15.4 How the enquiry is carried out

Where you have given the required consent, your identifying information may be processed through our authorised bureau-access partner in order to retrieve your credit information from a registered credit bureau. Thrive SA operates the member platform and uses the information made available through that authorised arrangement to provide the features described in these terms. The registered credit bureau remains the source of the underlying bureau record.

Thrive SA is not a credit bureau, a credit provider, a lender, a debt counsellor or a law firm. We do not lend money, grant credit, act as your debt counsellor, or decide what appears on your bureau record.

15.5 The credit information is for your information, not advice

What the app shows you is your own credit information, presented in plain English so that you can understand it and decide what to do. It is not financial, legal or credit advice, and it is not a recommendation to take or avoid any credit. Section 3 applies in full: we cannot promise that your score will rise, that any application will be approved, or that any listing will be removed.

Bureau information can be incomplete or out of date. If something in it is wrong, the correction is made with the credit bureau or the credit provider that reported it. We will help you understand the record and prepare a dispute, but we cannot change a bureau record ourselves.

15.6 Zoe, the in-app assistant

Zoe is an automated assistant. Zoe is not a person, and it is not a financial adviser, a debt counsellor, a credit provider or a lender. It can be wrong or incomplete, and it cannot make or approve any decision about your account, your membership or your money. Do not rely on it as advice, and do not type anything into it that you would not want sent to our AI processor. What you type is processed as set out in our Privacy Policy.

15.7 Documents you upload

If you upload documents, you confirm that they are yours or that you are entitled to upload them, and that they are lawful. We do not check, verify, approve or advise on what you upload, and storing a document with us does not make it valid or accepted by anyone else. You can delete any file yourself at any time. We may remove content that is unlawful or that does not belong in a document vault, and we will tell you if we do.

15.8 Third-party service providers

We use third parties to run the service — among them cloud hosting and file storage, an AI processor, messaging providers, and our authorised bureau-access partner. They are listed, with what they receive and why, in our Privacy Policy. Where one of them is unavailable, part of the app may be unavailable with it.

15.9 Membership and payment happen outside the app

Nothing is sold or paid for in the app. There is no checkout, no in-app purchase and no card entry in it. Your membership, its fees and its payment terms are agreed with you separately during onboarding and recorded in the applicable agreement or debit-order mandate. Cancelling your membership and deleting your data are two different things, and doing one does not do the other.

15.10 Suspension and ending your account

In addition to section 13, we may suspend or close a member account where we reasonably believe it is being used unlawfully, that sign-in details are being shared, that another person's identifying information has been submitted, or that the service is being abused. You may cancel your membership, or ask us to delete your data, at any time — see our Data Deletion page. What happens to your information afterwards is set out there and in the Privacy Policy.

15.11 Availability

The app is provided as it is and may be unavailable from time to time, including for maintenance or where a third party we rely on is down. Credit information depends on parties outside our control and may not always be available when you want it.
